Most of K&L’s locomotives have what is called: “Auto Running Numbers”. This means the game will automatically assign a running number within the designated number range to the locomotive and tender. You have the option of manually changing the running number*.

Most of the older locomotives and a select few newer excursion locomotives will start with the same running number every time it is placed on the track. These models have what is called: “Alpha Running Numbers”. This means a specific running number will be assigned to the model, but you do have the option to manually change it*. The older locomotives do this because they have not yet been updated to the “Auto Running Number” system. The select few newer excursion locomotives do this because the locomotive is built specifically to match a certain locomotive, which is the number that by default is assigned to the locomotive.

To change the running number for any locomotive that features either “Alpha Running Numbers” or “Auto Running Numbers”:

1. In surveyor mode, open the Train Tab (F7) and find the locomotive
2. Place the locomotive on the track
3. On the bottom right corner of the Train Tab, select the large ? button
4. Click the locomotive
5. A “Properties” window will open
6. Find the section labeled: “Vehicle Properties”
7. Click “Running Number” and enter the number you wish to use*
   
   *Keep in mind, the manually entered number is limited to the amount of digits used on the locomotive.
   
   For example:
   WP 94 can only be assigned a 2 digit number, NKP 765 can only be assigned a 3 digit number, and Frisco 1522 can only be assigned a 4 digit number.

For TRS2022, TRS2019, T:ANE, Trainz 2012 SP1+ and Trainz Mac 2:

Will work in DCC or CAB mode. While in surveyor or driver:

1. Press the “Main Menu” Button on the top left of the screen
2. Go to “Options”
3. Click the “Control Settings” Tab on the left
4. Click the “Driver” filter on the top of the window
5. Choose a key command for the “Second Whistle”
6. “SHIFT H” will work without conflicting with any existing commands

For Trainz 2009, 2010, 2012 Pre SP1 and Trainz Mac 1:

Will work in CAB mode only

1. The key command is ALT and COMMA
2. Press once to start the whistle, and press again to stop the whistle

This is the first time this feature has been used on a steam engine in Trainz. The 2nd whistle may skip and/or pop periodically. Enjoy it for what it is! We are looking into perfecting it’s performance in the future!

For TRS2022, TRS2019, T:ANE, Trainz 2012 SP1+ and Trainz Mac 2:

Toggle items include: Smoke Deflectors, Mars Light, Engineer Name, Division Decal, and Whistle Shield.*

The hide/show objects can be toggled in both surveyor and in driver.

In Surveyor:

1. Place the locomotive on the track
2. Click the ? button on the bottom right corner of the train tab
3. Click the locomotive
4. When the locomotive’s properties window opens, click the “Extra Settings” tab
5. Find the object you wish to toggle and check the box next to it.

In Driver:

1. Right Click (CTRL + Right Click in T:ANE) the locomotive
2. Select “View Details“
3. Find the object you wish to toggle and check the box next to it.

*Note: Not all locomotives had toggle items.

Commissions are models paid for by someone.

A commissioner essentially pays the costs involved in making the product a reality. There are a lot of costs involved with building content for Trainz, especially for steam locomotives. Blueprints/diagrams, reference images, audio, video, access to Historical Archives, a trip to see the locomotive in person. Unfortunately, not every locomotive can be built simply by google searching images or watching a video on youtube. Some are very rare and less documented than others, so reference material may be limited to out-of-print books and VHS tapes, resulting in a larger range search to find what is needed. The scale of the project is also a factor when it comes to costs: A small engine, a larger modern engine, variations, accompanying cars, matching streamlined sets.

If your commission is accepted and a price is agreed upon, you will be given a general timeline of when your project would be started and when it would be completed. A down payment is asked to be paid up front to solidify your place on the constantly growing list of commissions. The rest of your payment is required in order for the project to be added to the websites next 6 projects. This will give you time to make your final payment or cancel the commission if need be. Once the commission is on the website projects list, it will remain there until it is completed.

The current commission list is full, and will be open to new additions at a future time.

Currently, I have 3 people that test out what is in the works. Between myself and the 3 others, we have all versions of Trainz covered to make sure K&L’s products work properly no matter which version of Trainz you use.

No, and for a few reasons:

1. They aren’t complete routes. Many of my promos cover 200+ miles of ground, so I only build the areas shown in the promo video. Enough time is already being allocated to building the models themselves, I would never have the time to build an entire route and keep up with the constantly growing commission list.
2. A lot of the content in the promo scenes are modified assets, and many items are custom made assets just for the particular scene.
